Before the first startup of a rebuilt engine, walk me through how you would establish lubrication and what evidence you want before allowing the engine to run.
Strong Interview Answer
I would prime the lubrication system using the manufacturer-approved method, with fuel/ignition disabled if the procedure calls for it, and verify oil delivery or pressure before sustained operation. The goal is to fill the pump and critical oil passages before the bearings and valvetrain are asked to carry normal running load; revving a dry or unverified engine is not a priming strategy.
