Core Concepts
- Title VII prohibits covered-employer discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and transgender status), and national origin.
- ADA employment provisions generally cover employers with 15+ employees and prohibit disability discrimination against qualified individuals; reasonable accommodation is required absent undue hardship.
- ADA undue hardship means significant difficulty or expense assessed case by case; inconvenience alone is not enough.
