Term insurance is temporary protection for a stated period and normally does not build cash value.
Core Concepts
- Level term keeps the face amount level for the stated term; premiums may be level for the guaranteed period.
- Decreasing term reduces the face amount on a schedule and commonly fits declining obligations such as a mortgage.
- Annually renewable term renews one year at a time; premiums generally rise with attained age.
Exam Tips
- First identify the death-benefit pattern, then ask whether the stem is testing renewal or conversion.
- Mortgage balance falling = decreasing term; fixed temporary income need = level term.
