Overview
These are the foundational properties and access concepts that appear throughout the CC exam. The goal is to identify which security objective is at risk and select the control or process that directly supports it.
Core Concepts
- Confidentiality prevents unauthorized disclosure of information. Examples include access controls, encryption, need-to-know, and secure handling.
- Integrity protects information and systems from unauthorized or improper modification and supports accuracy, completeness, and trustworthiness.
- Availability ensures authorized users can access systems, services, and information when needed. Redundancy, backups, capacity, and resilient design support availability.
Exam Tips
- Identify the violated security property before picking a technology.
- Remember AAA: Authenticate -> Authorize -> Account.
