Term insurance provides temporary death-benefit protection for a stated period and ordinarily does not build cash value.
Core Concepts
- Level term keeps the stated death benefit level during the term; premiums may be level for the guaranteed period.
- Decreasing term reduces the death benefit over time and is commonly associated with a declining obligation such as a mortgage.
- Increasing term provides a death benefit that rises according to the contract, often to address growing needs or inflation.
