Core Concepts
- Risk is uncertainty of loss; a peril is the direct cause of loss; a hazard increases the chance or severity of loss.
- Physical hazards arise from tangible conditions; moral hazards involve dishonesty; morale hazards involve carelessness/indifference.
- DP-1 is the basic dwelling form and is built around specifically named causes of loss.
Exam Tips
- Memorize the DP progression: basic → broad named perils → open perils on the building.
- Always read endorsements after the base form because an endorsement can add, remove or modify coverage.
