Overview
Evaluate airflow is part of the Air Distribution domain, which accounts for 18 of the 120 scored Environmental Air Class A items in the current PSI outline.
Core Concepts
- Design airflow comes from load and equipment performance, then the duct system must deliver that airflow within available static pressure.
- Use measured CFM and static-pressure data to verify performance; room temperature alone does not isolate an airflow defect.
- Filters, coils, dampers, ducts, fittings, leakage and return paths all contribute to air-side resistance.
Exam Tips
- When equipment setup is already verified, choose the measurement closest to the complaint: zone/outlet airflow.
- Use static pressure to locate system resistance, then re-measure CFM after correction.
