Texas HVAC Contractor Interview Questions

Practice real interview prompts based on Texas HVAC Contractor objectives. Review strong sample answers, listening cues, and common traps before the conversation gets real.

Question 1 of 20

A room is warm, the air handler setup is correct, the filter and coil are clean, and total external static pressure is acceptable. Walk me through the measurement you would use next to decide whether the room is actually receiving its design airflow.

Strong Interview Answer

Measure delivered airflow at the affected outlet or branch and compare it with the design CFM. With equipment setup and system static already verified, a zone airflow measurement directly tests delivery. If CFM is low, then trace that branch for balancing, damper, leakage, duct, or return-path problems rather than changing refrigerant charge.

What to Listen For

  • delivered CFM
  • compare with design airflow
  • branch/zone diagnosis
  • balancing or restriction

Caution

Do not answer with room temperature alone or propose replacing a damper before measuring the actual airflow.
