Question 1 of 20
A Virginia insurer terminates your appointment. What can you still do for that insurer after the termination notice, and what deadline matters?
Strong Interview Answer
I would separate the producer license from the insurer appointment. Under current Virginia § 38.2-1834, after the applicable termination notice is sent, the agent or agency must stop selling or soliciting for that insurer no later than 10 calendar days. After termination, I would not resume selling or soliciting for that insurer unless reappointed.
What to Listen For
- license versus appointment
- no later than 10 calendar days
- stop selling or soliciting
- reappointment required to resume
Caution
Do not say the appointment ends the producer's entire license, and do not use the stale 'immediately upon receipt' rule.
