AB-900 Study roadmap

Exam AB-900 Study Roadmap

A good Exam AB-900 roadmap follows Microsoft's objectives without forcing a rigid schedule. Move from Microsoft 365 core services into governance and Copilot administration, then use practice review to find the topics that need another pass.

Start With Microsoft 365 Core Objects

Begin with the Microsoft 365 admin center and the workload objects called out in the study guide: users, groups, licenses, Exchange mailboxes, distribution groups, SharePoint sites and libraries, Teams objects, and Microsoft Entra roles. This foundation helps later Copilot and governance questions make sense.

Move Into Data Protection and Governance

Next, study Microsoft Purview and SharePoint governance concepts. Focus on sensitivity labels, retention, audit, DLP, oversharing, external sharing, data access governance reports, Restricted Content Discovery, and the way permissions influence what Microsoft 365 Copilot can access.

Add Copilot and Agent Administration

After governance, study Microsoft 365 Copilot and agents. Learn the difference between built-in Copilot capabilities and custom agents, monthly licensing and pay-as-you-go concepts, Copilot usage reporting, billing policies, agent access, agent approval, and lifecycle monitoring.

Review With Practice and Documentation

Use practice questions after each study block to expose weak concepts. If you miss questions about reports, return to Microsoft's Copilot reporting guidance. If you miss oversharing questions, review SharePoint data access governance. If you miss agent questions, revisit Microsoft 365 Copilot agents and Copilot Studio agent builder.
