CLF-C02 How to prepare

How to Prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification

CLF-C02 preparation works best when each study block is tied to an official domain and a practical AWS distinction. Focus on recognizing services, responsibilities, cost tools, and support options rather than memorizing isolated service names.

Start with Cloud Concepts

Make sure the basic cloud terms are solid before diving into service lists. Understand scalability, elasticity, high availability, fault tolerance, Regions, Availability Zones, edge locations, economies of scale, and the difference between CapEx and OpEx. These ideas explain why AWS services are chosen in the first place.

Study Security as Shared Responsibility

Security questions often test who is responsible for what. AWS manages the security of the cloud, including facilities, hardware, and global infrastructure. Customers manage security in the cloud, such as IAM permissions, data classification, operating system patching for EC2, and application configuration. Add IAM, MFA, CloudTrail, AWS Organizations, and encryption basics to that model.

Learn Services by Use Case

Group services by the problem they solve. EC2 provides virtual machines, Lambda runs code without server management, S3 stores objects, EBS attaches block storage to EC2, RDS manages relational databases, DynamoDB provides NoSQL key-value and document storage, VPC controls networking, and CloudFront improves content delivery. CLF-C02 usually asks what service fits a basic scenario.

Review Billing, Pricing, and Support Early

Cost topics are easier when you compare tools directly. AWS Pricing Calculator estimates before deployment. Cost Explorer analyzes actual spend. AWS Budgets alerts when usage or cost crosses thresholds. Trusted Advisor checks for optimization opportunities. Support Plans determine the level of technical support and response guidance available.

Use Practice for Diagnosis

After each practice session, write down the missed concept in plain language. Examples: “CloudTrail records API activity,” “S3 Standard-IA is for infrequently accessed data,” “IAM roles are assumed, not permanently assigned like users,” or “AWS Artifact provides compliance reports.” Those notes turn mistakes into targeted review.
