DP-900 Career Roadmap

DP-900 helps learners talk accurately about data storage, relational models, NoSQL models, analytics workloads, and Azure data services. That vocabulary is useful when working with analysts, developers, database teams, BI teams, and cloud support groups.

After DP-900, many learners strengthen SQL, basic data modeling, Power BI, Excel, Python fundamentals, or Azure portal familiarity. The best next step depends on whether the goal is reporting, database support, application support, or data engineering.

Learners interested in dashboards and reporting can move toward Power BI and data analysis. DP-900 helps by explaining where analytical data comes from, how warehouses and lakes differ, and why semantic models and reports need clean source data.

Learners interested in support roles can build on Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, storage, access, monitoring, backup, and basic troubleshooting concepts. DP-900 alone is not enough for database administration, but it provides a useful starting vocabulary.

Learners interested in pipelines and platforms should continue into SQL, Python, Spark, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data integration, and practical project work. DP-900 introduces the landscape, while later study develops implementation skill.

A fundamentals credential can support a learning path, but role readiness still depends on hands-on practice, project experience, communication skills, and knowledge of the tools used by the team.
