SAP-C02 measures advanced architecture judgment. The official exam guide groups scored content into four domains: Design Solutions for Organizational Complexity at 26%, Design for New Solutions at 29%, Continuous Improvement for Existing Solutions at 25%, and Accelerate Workload Migration and Modernization at 20%. Expect scenarios that require comparing designs, not simply recognizing a service name.

The target candidate performs a solutions architect role and has experience designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions. The exam guide describes work across multiple applications and projects in complex organizations. Prior certifications can help build background knowledge, but AWS does not list AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate as a required prerequisite for SAP-C02.

Preparation should emphasize architecture tradeoffs. Study multi-account governance with AWS Organizations and SCPs, identity with IAM Identity Center, hybrid connectivity with Direct Connect and VPN, traffic management with Route 53 and Global Accelerator, security controls with KMS, ACM, WAF, and Shield, and resilience patterns using AWS Backup, Aurora Global Database, DynamoDB Global Tables, Auto Scaling, and multi-Region strategies.
