SAP-C02 Study roadmap

AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional Study Roadmap

A useful SAP-C02 roadmap is flexible. Organize study around official domains, then spend more time on the architecture tradeoffs that are weakest for your background.

Understanding the Exam Landscape

Begin with the official SAP-C02 exam guide. Use the four domains as the roadmap: organizational complexity, new solutions, continuous improvement, and migration and modernization. For each domain, write down the AWS services and architecture choices you already know well, then mark the ones where you cannot explain the tradeoff.

Build Around Architecture Themes

Group study by design themes instead of fixed calendar blocks. One theme might be multi-account governance with Organizations, SCPs, IAM Identity Center, Control Tower, logging, and cost allocation. Another might be hybrid networking with Direct Connect, VPN, Transit Gateway, Route 53 Resolver, PrivateLink, and centralized inspection.

Use Practice to Direct the Next Review

After a practice session, identify the reason behind each miss. Was it a service limit, an RTO/RPO misunderstanding, an identity boundary issue, a cost tradeoff, or a migration sequencing problem? Let that reason choose the next study block. SAP-C02 progress comes from reducing repeated decision errors.

Essential Resources & Hands-on Labs

Use AWS documentation and the Well-Architected Framework to deepen the specific patterns you are reviewing. Build small proofs of concept when implementation detail is blocking architecture judgment, but keep the emphasis on design selection: why this pattern, why this service, why this account boundary, and why this recovery strategy?

Final Review Without Cramming Unsupported Facts

In final review, avoid memorizing local counts or unofficial domain groupings. Revisit the official domain weights, response types, and target candidate description. Then focus on scenario habits: identify constraints, eliminate designs that violate a requirement, and choose the architecture that balances security, resilience, latency, operational complexity, and cost.
